Perennial herbs or subshrubs, 50–60 cm tall, puberulous, later glabrescent.
Petiole of lowermost and middle cauline leaves 1–2 cm long, lower blade suborbiculate or ovate-triangular, 3–4×4 cm, 2(–3)-pinnatisect, middle blades 3–3.5×3–4 cm, 1(–2)-pinnatisect, segments 2 (or 3) pairs, 3-lobed, lobes (10-)20–30×1–2 mm; uppermost leaves and bracts 3–5-lobed.
Inflorescences narrowly racemose panicles. Heads subglobose, 1.5–2 mm in diam., short pedunculate or subsessile. Outer florets 11–15. Central florets 4–16.
